The Municipality of Jesolo is situated between the mouths of rivers Sile and Piave, overlooking the Adriatic Sea for 15 kms on the stretch of coast between Cavallino and Eraclea Mare, the two neighbouring localities. Much of its territory overlooks the north-eastern part of the lagoon of Venice, which is here called Jesolo lagoon.
From the 1950s onwards, Jesolo has been developing its tourist vocation, thanks to its coastline of fine sand lapped by crystal clear waters and a shallow seabed, which favoured seaside tourism and the consequent development of accommodation facilities along the coast and inland. Today Jesolo is a modern tourist town, offering many opportunities to spend a beach holiday full of comfort and fun.
Known as the capital of nightlife, it is becoming one of the most modern cities in Veneto region and of all the Adriatic coast, thanks to the ambitious project coordinated by the architect Kenzo Tange who signed in 2000 its new Master Plan, involving a great urban regeneration project including skyscrapers as high as 24 storeys that are going to redraw the city's, and the coast's, skyline.
